Being the Owner and Creative Director of Plantology means my job role is as varied as ever. I am passionate about what I do and hope everyone enjoys the Sheffield based flower shops I have worked so hard to create and promote over the past 25(!) years.

My fortuitous career in floristry quickly saw flowers and plants become a passion of mine. This passion has been fuelled with visits to the Netherlands where I observed flora at its finest.

The warmth that is generated within our shops is one of my favourite things about us. It is so important that customers feel welcome to browse and enjoy the atmosphere without feeling pushed into buying anything. Plantology is a creative hub with a diverse set of personalities. Everyone is welcome.

I discovered that my love of flowers and plants could lead to a career quite late compared to most of my colleagues. I joined the Plantology team as a Floral Assistant and Delivery Driver and 5 years later, i’m a Level 2 qualified florist currently studying to become a Senior florist.

My favourite flowers change all the time, but I love big, bold, drama-queen-blousy-blooms such as Delphiniums and Peonies. We get so many interesting and unusual plants at Plantology, every week I see something new and wonderful. At Plantology I think there's a plant to suit every mood and every room in your home.

After finishing my A-Levels I was unsure of what to do next. I had always been interested in the natural world and loved learning. Towards the end of my final year of A-Levels, I volunteered my weekends at a Florist’s leading to them eventually offering me an apprenticeship. The rest is history!

As I've just finished my L3 Apprenticeship, I am now looking for ways to develop practically in the shop. I would love to be able to refine some of the skills I have learned. I am also looking forward to supporting our new members of staff in their training. I have competed at Harrogate flower show so I wouldn't mind the challenge again next year.

I've been a florist for nearly 25 years, it's all I've ever known.

My favourite flower? It has to be the Rose, although an oldie, it will always be a classic beauty with its multitude of colour selection and its all sorts of shapes and sizes, not to mention the scents.

There's a lot that I love about working for Plantology, to start, the staff are very supportive, it’s a great team to be a part of. I like the fact we try our upmost to reduce our carbon footprint wherever possible and use recycled materials.
